She has taught for a total of 22 years, mostly in multi-grade classrooms. She came all the way from the deserts of New Mexico to beautiful, green Pennsylvania to help make a difference at BME. She shares her views on teaching in the following paragraph:
I love to teach and see the light come on in students’ eyes as they grasp the concepts shared. Mastery of the basics is so important for success throughout the educational experience. I want to make the classroom a warm, inviting place where teacher, student, and parent work together to optimize learning. We want to work hard, have fun, explore, and learn in an accepting atmosphere of individual differences. Most importantly, I want to introduce a personal experience in knowing Jesus and including Him in our everyday experiences. This means that our thoughts need to be turned to Christian values in our choices of deportment, interaction with others, and subjects of study. There are many “teachable moments” throughout the day when young minds are open to listening and learning about God. This is what our school is truly about!
Her husband has taught in several colleges and has worked in several life-style centers. They have two children, a son and daughter-in-law who live in Albuquerque, NM, and a daughter and son-in-law with three boys who live in Denver, CO.
She likes to be active and enjoys hiking, backpacking, and scuba diving. She also likes to read, sew, and do puzzles.
